Metabolomics is the study of changes in small molecules in the biochemical physiology of homeostasis. Ecological Metabolomics is focused on studying changes in those complex relationships in the context of animals interacting with their environment and ecosystem. The Ecological Metabolomics Group is interested in identifying reliable markers of distress and physiological adaptation in wildlife both in the wild and captivity. Much of this work is centered at CMAST and utilizes the CMAST MMRF and its 4.7 T wide bore horizontal NMR magnet. However, additional work is conducted using vertical magnets on the main NCSU campus and in the research triangle.
