Conservation Genomics

Conservation Genomics considers key questions relevant to the successful conservation of species and ecosystems that can be addressed through advanced genomic techniques.  On going projects by EMC faculty range from the development of whole genome sequencing, to the assessment of the roles of individual genes in the fitness of species of conservation concern.

Faculty involved in the EMC Conservation Genomics efforts include:

Mathew Breen – oncologicial genomics -whole genome sequencing, Red Wolf and wild canids in general, Elephants and pachyderms in general

Jeff Yoder – developmental genomics – Zebrafish, Wyoming toad and endagered toads

Freya Mowatt – retinal genomics – retinal dysplasia of red wolf
