Michael Berecz

Dr. Michael Berecz is our newest addition to the EMC graduate student ranks. He comes to us directly from his most recent assignment in the U.S. Army as the officer in charge at the Northern Europe Veterinary Command, North Branch in Hanau, Germany. There he supervised the unit responsible for all veterinary services to all Department of Defense agencies operating in Northern Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway , Greenland and South Africa.

Here with us at the EMC he is pursuing a PhD in Comparative Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Toxicology investigating novel approaches to disinfection of complex aquatic environments contaminated with infectious pathogens. He and his wife Amee have settled in their new home in Cary and have just celebrated the arrival of their first child, Tristan Michael who arrived shortly before Christmas on December 16th weighing 5 pounds and 2 ounces.
