My career plan at this point is to pursue a residency in zoological medicine, nutrition, or anatomic pathology. Ideally, I would combine my interests as a zoo veterinarian and nutritionist, assisting with necropsies and research. I would most like to work on improving the feeding of hoofstock in a zoo setting, aiming to more closely approximate their wild diets in captivity. I am also excited about the idea of working in academia, where I can teach, do research, and work in the clinics. Given the wide breadth of specialties in which veterinarians can find their niches, it is entirely possible that other opportunities may arise, leading me down an entirely different path, but that is what I love about the profession — endless exploration and personal development.
